Race-day ready: 8 playlists to power your next run

Or try these before your next big meeting or brainstorming session.

If you follow us on social media, you probably know that #TeamEYR is gearing up for the 2017 Lake Michigan Credit Union Bridge Run this weekend (Sept. 17). We’ve put in the training, our team shirts are here, and there is just one thing left to do: Power up on the big day with a healthy breakfast and a solid race day playlist.

If you’re looking for a playlist to inspire you for your next race day, workout, or easy run/walk – or if you need to get pumped up for a big meeting or presentation – check these out. From Jock Jams to hip hop to rock, we’ve compiled a list of 8 playlists for any taste.

As always, we want to hear from you: What is your go-to pump-up song for running, walking, or working out? Tell us on Facebook, and we might just put together a Team EYR playlist!

Fair warning: Many of the songs on these playlists are explicit. Look out for the small “E” to far right side before playing in front of children.

Spotify: Jock Jams

If you’re looking for a quick adrenaline boost before and/or during a run, this is the playlist for you. A mix of the best pump-up songs from the past few decades, we even suggest listening for a quick confidence boost before your next big presentation.

Nike+ Running Club: Nike Running Race Day Run

No matter your pace, these upbeat songs are sure to keep your energy – and positivity – levels high throughout your entire race.

Spotify: Running to Rock

This playlist is for those who like something a little different. A collection of 41 rock songs with varying degrees of heaviness, this is a great playlist to get you through the toughest workouts.

Runner’s World: September 2017 Running Mix

This playlist, which is curated by Olympic Marathoner Desiree Linden, is a mix of classic and more contemporary songs with just the right rhythm. This mix is best for people who’d prefer to forget that they’re running.

Spotify: Run ‘N’ Bass

Some of us run best when we can match our feet to a beat. The songs on this playlist are high-tempo, so be prepared to move.

Digster: Workout Hip Hop Edition

Much like Spotify’s Jock Jams playlist, this playlist is a great go-to for people looking to get pumped-up before a race or tough workout. Need a confidence boost? What better way to start than with Kendrick Lamar’s HUMBLE.?

The Atlantic: Weird, Great Run – Editor’s Picks

We wanted to include this one on our list because it’s… well, different. The playlist is what resulted after The Atlantic asked readers to send in the strangest songs on their running playlists. Here’s to the unexpected!

POPSUGAR Fitness: 1 Hour Run

A lovely compilation of quick-tempo songs, this playlist is one to listen to when you just want to enjoy your run. Or try this playlist during your next brainstorming session, and see what kind of creativity these fast-paced songs can inspire.

Now tell us: What is your favorite running/workout song or playlist?
